Founded in 1857, St. Mary's Medical Center is the oldest continuously operating hospital in San Francisco.  Sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy and part of Catholic Healthcare West, it is one of the largest not-for-profit, community-based health care providers in Northern California.  A fully accredited teaching hospital, St. Mary's has 396 licensed beds and more than 500 physicians on staff.  Its reputation for quality, personalized care, patient satisfaction and excellent clinical outcomes is backed by the finest medical technology.
