Meet Our Program Director:

DR. WILLIAM MCGANN

 

 

 

Dr. William McGann specializes in the treatment of degenerative joint disease of the hip and knee. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is a fellowship trained adult reconstructive surgeon.

 

He started his orthopaedic career in 1979 as a resident at San Francisco Orthopaedic Residency Program and returned to the San Francisco Orthopaedic Surgeons in 1984 after fellowship at Harvard.

 

He is a senior partner in the group and is the Chief of Orthopedics at

St. Mary’s Medical Center. He has recently opened the Total Joint Center at St. Mary’s - a specialized, multidisciplinary center for patients undergoing joint replacement surgery...

Welcome! Thank you for your interest in the San Francisco Orthopaedic Residency Program (SFORP). We are part of St. Mary's Medical Center, a fully accredited teaching hospital and one of the largest not-for-profit, community-based health care providers in Northern California.

 

Since the 1960's, we have been dedicated to providing not only personalized and compassionate patient care, but also excellence in the education that we offer to you as a potential resident in the field of orthopaedic surgery and musculoskeletal medicine. While our residency program supports the latest technology, we uphold our traditions of expert training and sharing information.

 

SFORP's faculty have extensive training experience and each are experts in their individual orthopaedic specialty, which includes spine, pediatrics, joint replacement, shoulder and elbow, foot/ankle, hand, trauma and sports medicine.
